The bike is very comfortable when it comes to riding in city or on highway. The overall performance is great and it scores very high when comes to mileage and price in its segment.
The Japanese giant auto manufacturer Suzuki needs no introduction. Suzuki is immensely popular in India and is leading the automobile manufacturer with Maruti. However, they have failed to stir up the Indian motorcycle market. Suzuki had earlier launched bikes in a tie-up with TVS in the 100 cc – 150 cc segments like the Zeus and Heat, which has faded into oblivion and Suzuki, could never really taste much success with these offerings. Keeping this in mind Suzuki is reinventing itself and coming up with bikes and scooters targeted for Indian market in an attempt to salvage itself. It is populalrly known for its high end bikes like Suzuki Hayabusa and GSX-R in India however they have come up with all new Suzuki Hayate targeted for the budget conscious buyers.
Hayate meaning fresh breeze in Japanese is an 112cc has added more style to the entry level motorcycles. In entry level segment, buyers do not expect much style and flair but only consider performance. However with Hayate you get the style as well as the performance.
Engine
The designing is like fish tail and the bike is powered by 112cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled engine that gives out 8.4 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 8.62 NM of torque at 5500 RPM. The engine feels smooth and the bike offers a pleasant driving experience. It comes with a four-speed gearbox in an all-down shift pattern instead of the usual one-down and three up pattern.
Mileage
When it comes to mileage, the claimed mileage is 69 kmpl. However the mileage depends on how you ride it and it can give you a mileage of 48 to nearly 69 depending on the speed. It is at par with most 100 cc bikes but when it comes to 110 cc bike, it is definitely better.
Design
The new Hayate has gone through some minor cosmetic changes compared to the previous model of Hayate launched way back in 2012 but the mechanics of the bike remain the same. The side panels are now colored instead of the blacked out version in the previous bike as well as some design changes. It also includes maintenance free battery, broader rims and tubeless tyre, while the rear shock absorber is now a 5-step adjustable unit.
Features
Coming to the instrument panel, it includes a speedometer, odometer and a fuel gauge. The headlight seems bright enough while driving at night however Suzuki has given a miss to the much needed pass light flash switch. The palm grips are comfortable and despite the fact that it is meant for city driving you would feel comfortable enough driving it for long distances. The fuel tank provides space for the biker’s thighs and the saddle keeps the biker and the pillion rider comfortable. The rear view mirror could have been placed a little outwardly as the rear view mirror is obstructed by the biker’s elbow.
Overall the design and features are comfortable for riding and the foot pegs and handlebars are well placed. It is also equipped with front suspension and twin hydraulic rear shock absorbers providing a smooth ride.
Colors
The Motorcycle will be available in two variants – Suzuki Hayate STD and Suzuki Hayate ES and five color options and the on road price remains well below 45,000.
- Pearl Mirage Red
- Glass Sparkle Black Blue
- Glass Sparkle Black Red
- Pearl Mirage Moon Stone Grey
- Pearl Mirage White
Verdict – Compared to the other bikes in the entry level segment like Bajaj Discover, Hero Splendor plus etc. it performs better and looks better as well as cheaper. It does everything it is expected out of it brilliantly. If you are on a budget and looking for a stylish and a value for money bike, buy the new Suzuki Hayate and you will not be disappointed.
