The future small car from Korean car maker Hyundai is all set to launch its much awaited answer to Maruti Alto and Tata Nano soon. The new car will be either caller as Hyundai HA or Hyundai 800 and could be first officially seen in 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. From the first looks at the spyshots, HA looks a bit smaller then Hyundai’s best selling small car Santro and has taken lots of design cues from Hyundai i10. The front grille and head lamps look exact same as of i10. The price for this future car would be in between 2 to 3 lakhs. The car might come in the market in the beginning or mid of 2012.
The Hyundai HA is primarily based on the scaled down Santro platform and would be powered by Epsilon engine, 3-cylinder 814 cc which is going to give 48 bhp. A lot of pieces and bits would come from Santro with refinement to make it as a very well engineered compact hatchback for people who wants a cheap and small car. If the fuel efficiency of the car is improved and is with par with Alto and Nano then HA could do very well with Indian buyers. Hyundai is a very old player in the market and it knows the Indian conditions, so it is most likely that the new car will have a one plus features than its competitors.
As far as the rumors say, the mileage for the car will be around 20km/l for highway and 14-16km/l on city roads. The primary things to look out for in the new Hyundai HA models would be –
- Power Steering – Les likely in the base model of HA
- The total weight of the car. If it is of feather weight like Nano or not
- Stability of the car
- If it comes with LPG option or not
The nearest competitor for Hyundai HA would be Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Spark and Tata Nano.
