Think of trend setters and the Honda Civic is the name on your mind when it comes to affordable and spirited small cars. With a body styling that makes heads turn, and a performance that delights, the Honda Civic is certainly an unbeatable choice for comfort and fun. A lot has changed from the popular Civic of the 70s. What we have right now in 2009 is a very different looking car with the same name to remind fans of its terrific reputation.
As a coupe (2-door) or Sedan (4-door), the 2009 Honda Civic comes in a wide variety of trims such as DX, LX, EX, EX-L and the Si, to cater to all tastes and needs. What’s more, you also get spoilt for choice between the DX Value Package, the Hybrid, the LX-S, and also the GX. With every other review praising the 2009 Honda Civic, it comes as no surprise that the car offers a wide variety of features ranging from the basic tilt/telescoping steering wheel and power windows in the DX to the sport-tuned suspension, fog-lights and sports seats in the 2009 Honda Civic Si.
Did you know that the US News & World Report ranked the 2008 Honda Civic as no.1 in the “Affordable small cars” segment? Performance is quite commendable; with the basic trims like DX, LX and EX providing 140 horsepower while the Honda Civic Si goes a step further, offering an impressive 197 hp.
This helps it accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 7.1 seconds. That can be a great plus point for adrenaline filled drivers looking for some thrill with their family cars. Also continuously variable automatic transmission is available with the hybrid engine. Five-speed manual transmission is standard on base trims while you could go for the optional automatic transmission if you wish.
Your kids will love it, your wife will adore it and you can flaunt it. It is one car for those who want to stay a step ahead in their lives and on road.
Summing up, the Civic comes with plush interiors, some interesting options and a host of safety features, coupled with excellent pricing and performance. This could surely be the car for you.

This is a review of the new Civic launched in the US. It is not coming to India. The article is followed by the specs for the current Indian models, which adds to the confusion.
If anything, there may be a facelift to the Indian Civic in 2009 to compete with the Altis and revive lagging sales. As of 10th Feb 2009 there is no news from Honda or the dealers on this issue, although the dealers are advising that 2009-manufactured Civics are due in March (with no facelift).
