Renault India launched the updated version of Fluence sedan in March 2014. Renault’s MD and CEO for India, Sumit Sawhney interacted with journalists after the launch of updated version and claimed that the premium sedan vehicle offers style and world class features that Indian customers always aspired for. Let’s take a look at some points to know if Fluence can really attract eye balls.
Style
Renault’s badge on a lustrous black grille, bumper with fog lamps, and impressive headlamps help this sedan to look appealing and modern.
Fluence might keep on shining even if you forget to clean it for few days. Thanks to LED daytime running lights that keep this sedan shining.
The car is fitted with Kaleido alloy wheels that not only give dynamic look to this sedan, but also offer stability.
Safety Features
Fluence’s first edition was launched in 2008; it got major upgrades in 2012, and again, lot of safety upgrades in 2014.
This car offers safety features like anti-lock braking system, front and side airbags, ESP and traction control, front and rear parking sensors, and emergency break assist (EBA). It also offers dusk sensing headlamps, electro-chromatic rear view mirror, and fog lights. Smart access card lets you control the car without ignition keys.
Five year anti-rust warranty is good enough to convince that Fluence will keep its shine for considerable period of time.
Interiors
Abundant interior space and world class leather seats re-certify that this is “true” premium saloon car. Sedan’s dashboard looks classy, and consists of soft touch finish that is resistant to direct sunlight and everyday knocks.
Co-passenger and driver’s seat is well designed to provide support. Central arm rests and rear AC vents make sure that all the passengers sit comfortably. Rear seats not just offer comfort and great leg room, but also offer perfect under-thigh support even when front seats are pushed back. Map pockets, glove box, arm rest with cup holders are enough to take care of your small needs.
Electric power steering offers accurate response required for smooth driving. Digital meter cluster is easy to read and stylish. Ergonomically laid out controls allow driver to control the car’s temperature, music system, speed limiter and even cruise control feature. Just one touch is enough to control adjustable door mirrors.
Driving through city traffic can cause lot of frustration, and music can prove to be the best solution. So, Fluence is equipped with Arkamys 3D music system to offer the best musical experience. 3D sound system includes eight speakers.
There is no need to worry about sports gear, groceries, or luggage while driving this Renault sedan. Its large and luxurious boot has capacity of 530 liters. You can easily manage to keep all your stuff inside.
Engine
Currently, customers can choose from 2.0-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission, or 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gear box. The car is available in two variants, E2 and E4. Diesel engine offers mileage of 20.4 KMPL and the petrol engine offers mileage of 13.4 KMPL.
On an average, both variants can go from 0 to 100 KMPH in 13 seconds, and can offer maximum speed of 185 KMPH. Rear and front disc brakes are perfect enough to control the car. Trailing arm coil springs manage rear suspension and MacPherson Strut system manages the front suspension.
Competition
It competes with sedans like Skoda Superb, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, etc. Pricewise, Fluence is much more expensive compared to other sedan cars. You can choose from four colors like platinum, pearl black, ashe biege and glaciar white. E2 variant comes with price tag of 13.99 lakh, and E4 is available for around 15.49 lakh. Prices may change depending on the features offered with petrol and diesel variant.
The car maker has not managed to achieve their target as far as sales figures are concerned. But Fluence has definitely helped Renault to get back on feet in India after the end of their tie-up with Mahindra and Mahindra.
