Buy this scooter for its high performance and it being very practical for Indian roads. Fuel efficiency is not great as compared to others in the segment and looks are also not very appealing
Top scooter maker’s position in India has been dominated by Honda since last 5-6 years. Honda Activa has been credited for giving new life to the Indian scooter market. On the other hand, TVS and Suzuki are competing for the second spot with their impressive range of scooters. Suzuki motorcycle India’s Access has proved itself as good option against Honda Activa. Let’s take a look at some details about Suzuki Access 125.
Style and Mechanics
The Japanese automaker launched the upgraded version for this scooter in August 2014. Latest version offers better tyres, Suzuki’s 3D logo, minor changes in design, and two new colors.
This scooter belongs to mature users, so, efficiency and performance are considered more important than style.
Engine
Access 125 is powered by 4-stroke, single cylinder 124cc engine. The scooter maker claims that Access can reach from 0 to 60 KMPH in just 6.56 seconds. Its top speed is 92 KMPH. Some user reviews also suggest that riders did not experience any vibrations even while driving at 75 KMPH. Most of the existing users are happy with the vehicle’s overall performance and pickup.
Fuel gauge and speedometer are analogue, but they are clearly visible even under low light while traveling on highway. Steel coated safety rods, well designed silencer, beautiful paint, good quality headlight and turn indicators make your presence worth noticing while on road. Its under seat storage is good enough to keep those shopping bags.
Coil-sprung, swing arm type suspension at the rear and coil-sprung, telescopic suspension at the front, contribute in offering well-balanced ride. Rear and front drum brakes are good enough to control your speed. You can expect smooth ride even in-case of bad roads and heavy traffic. Some of the other important features in Access are multi-reflector headlamp, central locking system, tubeless tyres, maintenance free battery, and telescopic front suspension.
Mileage
As far as mileage is concerned, considerable number of Access owners claim that they get mileage of around 45 KMPL on city roads, while on highways, they get around 50 KMPL. Tyre pressure, timely servicing, traffic conditions, and driving style play important role in vehicle’s mileage.
While calculating scooter’s average, it is advisable to make notes about petrol filled in the vehicle every week. Plus, make sure that you opt for engine oil recommended by scooter maker for gear-less scooters.
Competition
Suzuki Access competes with Mahindra Rodeo RZ, Honda Aviator and Honda Activa.
Access is fitted with wider seat compared to Activa and other competitors. This makes Access suitable for long distance journey as well. Several users suggest that seating comfort and quality of switches offered by Access are one-step ahead of those used in Honda Activa. However, in comparison to Activa, Access offers low and narrow handle bars that are not comfortable for tall users.
Suzuki Access appears unisex, and can be used by people from all age groups. You can choose from five colors like grey, pearl mirage white, metallic sonic silver, glass sparkle black, and candy antares red.
When it comes to price, you should be ready to spend few thousands more to buy Access compared to Honda Activa. Access is available for around Rs 52,000 in Delhi. Price may vary depending on state and local taxes.
Suzuki is also offering its Access “Being Human” special edition. If you love Salman Khan, and are willing to pay one thousand rupees extra for him, you can opt for Access 125 “Being Human” special edition. This special edition vehicle is available in pearl mirage white shade. Its tan leatherette seat cover, chrome plated rear view mirrors, and “Apna Way of Life” stickers are good enough to attract Tiger’s fans while on the road. Certain percentage of profit earned by selling this special edition scooter is donated to Salman’s Being Human Foundation.
