2023 Honda Ruckus Review
The Honda Ruckus was initially released in Japan in 2001 as the Zoomer. The NPS50 made its way to Canada and USA in 2003 and acquired the ‘Ruckus’ name. Eventually, the rugged Ruckus became a robust seller for Honda in 2005. And has been a popular scooter in North America ever since then.
Aside from color offerings, the rugged Ruckus underwent very few changes over its run after 2001. Eventually, the only noteworthy difference Ruckus went through was fixing a problem with the Honda engine ventilation in 2006. Following this, Honda raised the redline by 10 percent. As a result, the new Ruckus is now a bit faster post dodging a potentially catastrophic problem concerning the engine.
Moving Forward
Honda, in 2006 had addressed a long-standing crankshaft bearing failure problem with the GET 2 engine. The company then introduced a new Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system that perilously reduced oil contamination from gas fumes.
Honda also made a few other changes to affect top speed, which increased from 37mph to 41mph. They introduced a new carb needle and exhaust alongside increasing the redline. It has yet to make any other changes besides color options since then.
Impressive Power Over Two-Wheels
The 2023 Honda Ruckus motor features several technological advances. First, it utilizes a long-case version of the GET2 engine. This engine comes here with an impressive modern design. It is also found in the ‘Metropolitan.’ But that motor has a shorter swing arm to suit the smaller back wheel in the case.
Unfound in most scooters, the updated GET2 engine in Ruckus, being a 4-stroke, provides ultra-low emissions because of the catalytic converter in the muffler. And while the motor is overly quiet, the fuel economy is impressive. Driving around full throttle, you can surprisingly expect between 85-to-100 mpg.
Matching Design & Amenities
The Ruckus will get you back in the scene. So please pick up the new black 2003 Ruckus and ride it everywhere. And when you have had enough, put your heart into modifying Ruckus, or go for a brand new one. Of course, the resale value of an old used Ruckus will also prompt you to fetch a new one.
You would love many things about Ruckus and hardly anything to complain about. The significant parts of the Ruckus are sparsed all over. The brilliantly designed engine is not just the only one. The scooter is timelessly rugged and stylish to match the brand’s quality.
The excellent handling of Ruckus is due to its super low center of gravity. It uses a horizontal motor. The fuel tank is located inside the floorboard instead of under the seat. As a result, almost nothing is above the wheels, and Honda in Ruckus has kept all the weight very close to the ground.
Combine these factors with a low 28.9″ seat height. It can further be made even lower with an aftermarket seat frame. You will eventually have a scooter that hugs the road. Ruckus also has excellent headlights. It can carry a lot of stuff when you need to. Even though it does not have any enclosed lockable storage, you can still safely and securely trudge surfboards and bags of golf clubs onto the Ruckus.
Comfort At Its Best
Weighing 194 lbs (88 kilograms) with a full gas tank, the Ruckus is fun to drive around town. It is easily maneuverable and imparts a fantastic experience. However, invest in goggles, face masks, and gloves. And a helmet on a two-wheeler is always a good idea!
The Ruckus has been successful due to its good looks and practicability. This urban warrior is a super hit amongst the masses, and do not be surprised when people ask you where they could get one. You can do as you want with this unique and timeless two-wheel wonder called Ruckus.
