Engine
The Yamaha MT 09 is powered by an 890cc liquid-cooled, four valves per cylinder, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine. The maximum power output is 115 horsepower @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 68.6 lb-ft @ 7000 rpm. The 3-cylinder engine gets a bump of 5% displacement from 847cc to 890cc. This was possible due to a 3mm longer stroke. As a result, the power delivery is smooth, and 1st three modes get maximum engine power. Even in low gears or slow speeds, the motor is smooth and reactive with an excellent throttle. The fuel economy is 49 MPG, one of the best in the class.
Agile handling
The agility comes from the lightweight aluminum frame and swingarm, making it easily maneuverable on roads and corners. The high center of gravity and compact wheelbase efficiently respond to rider inputs. MT-09, with a wet weight of just 417 pounds, is one of the lightest bikes in its class.
Advanced electronics
